First I’d like to say thanks for such good inrfomation. I’m in the process of rebranding and developing an integrated strategy combining social networking, my blog and my websites.I started out with one business which morphed into four businesses, each with its own name. While they are all related to the real estate investment and training businesses, they evolved independently over time. As such, they don’t leverage one another in the online space.Your posts are helping me change my thought process and to develop the disciplines necessary to create leverage between my various lists and online activities without spamming. I need to define my target customer, my blogging schedule, focus more on conversation development and less on teaching the whole lesson. I get a fair amount of positive feedback on my blog but it fails to engage conversations. I recently began using Facebook and Youtube without a written plan.Until now I have relied on others with more tech savvy than me to assist with my online strategy. It is my business and my responsibility to develop the plan, even if someone else assists with implementation. This post and the planning post have effectively put a temporary hold on my implementing any changes until I have fully thought this process through. This will save me time in the long run and ensure that I’ll initiate effective actions.I look forward to future posts.

Shallie, I appreciate your emcomnt, and I’m glad to hear your blog is evolving with you as a person. That’s awesome! That’s one of the beautiful things about blogging it’s personal in nature, and it can change as you learn more and want to try new things. Your emcomnt makes me want to clarify something that I likely failed to communicate in my post.Having a plan makes a lot of people feel constricted, like they’re locked into something and that their creativity is stifled. That somehow by having a written business plan, they can no longer be free and creative. This REALLY is not the point, and I think we can really take these things too seriously sometimes! The process of writing a business plan for your blog is vital. It’s absolutely mandatory if you want to maximize the results you get from your efforts. But it doesn’t lock you into anything. The process of writing the plan is more important than the plan itself. It forces you to think things through in detail. Revisit your plan often, and change it the point is that you’re thinking things through in detail and forcing yourself to look at your ambitions critically. By doing this and putting those concerns to rest, we are able to be MORE free, not less :)

I am looking to start a aulndry service/laundromat in my hometown. I have a superb business plan and location(location is everything!) for this business. The problem is MONEY! $250,000 to be exact. Of the 5 aspects banks/investors look for, I only have 3. 1. Experience I have been a store manager in the retailsector for 4 years, and have handled P L businesses quite well.2. Credit Score My credit is around 7703. Business Plan- Amazing business plan for the aulndry business (have read books, websites, join memberships over the last 3 months to gain better insight of aulndry service).4. Equity-NONE. Just had a baby with my ex-girlfriend which drained all my savings.5. Collateral-NONE. Not too many 24 year olds have enough collateral at this point. My family members have all owned their own businesses. I know what it takes to run your own business. I know that if banks/investors could see my work ethic and enthusiasm they would help me. CAN YOU?

      Hi Judianne

Raising capital is a hard slog. You may get backed many times but if your business plan is solid and you have perseverance I have all the confidence you will succeed in getting there.

Perhaps there is some type of service you can provide other laundromats that requires minimal capital? This is just one example of many but put your thinking cap on. If your desire is to own a laundromat but you have insufficient capital to do so at this stage perhaps think of some other way that does not involve huge amounts of money to establish that still involves you in the laundry industry. What is is that laundries have to do but dislike doing? Perhaps you could offer a service that helps save them time & money.

The cheapest thing I know you can start is a blog, that is what I have done with this site and when I have sufficient funds I have a number of products I would like to develop & promote to aid small business owners.

      Best of luck!

Having written saevrel different business plans (and having used saevrel different versions of Palo Alto’s BP software) I have to say that Business Plan Pro has always been a great way to create business plans on the fly. It offers many different types of templates for different types of businesses. These templates are wonderful starting points for creating business plans. The Standard Edition of Business Plan Pro provides great flexibility for creating simple business plans that don’t involve things like Quickbooks or Excel integration. For more complex financial tasks, you may have to spring for the Premier version. I have recommended this software to friends and would definitely never fail to use it for any future business plans that I may have to create. I love it. My only caution to the customer is that these templates are great jumping off points and not meant to be taken as-is. Writing a business plan is still a project but with the help of the BP software, it’s a heck of a lot easier! Great program for the money!

If you’re only really iksang about training, then it would depend on the size of the business. If there’s only about 1 10 people, then it would usually be the duty of the owner to train new staff, as he or she would be the person with the most interest in ensuring that everyone knows what they are doing. If you go into 10 30 or so staff, you’d probably have an operational or production manager who should take care of training. Most businesses don’t fail because of inadequate training though. As you pointed out, it’s more about lack of planning. I ran my own small businesses for a few years, and I made sure to only hire people that didn’t need any training! Is your concern that businesses fail because of no proper training programs?
